When is puzzlePALOOZA taking place?
Saturday, July 11th 10 AM – 4 PM. Official count for the Guinness World Record will be at 2 PM.
Where is it taking place?
Burlington’s Battery Park. To get there, head west on Main Street toward the waterfront. At the bottom of the hill, turn right on Battery Street and head up the hill. The park is on the left side.
Is it open to the public?
Yes. The public is encouraged to witness the incredible display of creativity throughout the day.
Is there an admission fee?
No!
Where can I park?
There’s no parking at the park but parking is allowed on most of the neighboring streets. Several parking garages are also nearby. Alternately, people can park at UVM’s Gutterson Field House and take a free shuttle to the Waterfront. It’s a short (10 min) walk uphill from the waterfront to the park.
What do I do with my puzzle piece?
Bring it to Battery Park anytime between 10 AM – 2 PM. We will register it and add it to the display. Pieces can be picked up anytime after the 2 PM count and before 4 PM.
What happens when I get there?
There will be two entrances: one for the general public, one for puzzle participants--head to the registration table. We’ll ask for your name and email address. Then we’ll attach a numbered ‘raffle’ ticket on your puzzle piece and you’ll get the other half. (Hold on to this ticket—you’ll need it at the end of the day to claim your puzzle piece.) Wood puzzle pieces will be placed on table tops and paper puzzle pieces will be affixed to the cardboard walls. Please plan to leave your piece in the exhibit from 10 AM until after the official count at 2 PM.
Can I bring both wood and paper puzzle pieces?
Yes. Wood ones will be displayed on tables and paper will be hung on large cardboard pieces lining the walls of the tent.
What if I can’t pick it up that day?
We’ll bring it back to the Arts Council’s office in Montpelier and hold it for you to pick up over the next 30 days. After that, we can’t promise we’ll be able to store it. Note that unidentified pieces will be held at the Council for a month. If not claimed, they will become the property of the Council.
Can I bring a bunch from my school (or organization)?
Yes! Note that we will be collecting the name of each artist and an email address where possible so if you have a lot, it could take a few minutes. We need this for two reasons: first, to accurately document the number of pieces in the display. Second, to contact puzzle owners if they fail to pick up their pieces at the end of the day.
Can I bring it to the Arts Council ahead of time?
We would prefer to have you attend! But if you can’t make any other arrangements for getting your piece there you can get it to our office. You must retrieve it within 30 days.
