A major portion of the Vermont Arts Council's work is dedicated to providing funding through competitive grants to artists, organizations, schools, and other partners. Each program follows General Guidelines and has guidelines of its own.
(Some) FY2012 GRANTS still available – for activities to be complete by August 30, 2012.
Cultural Routes: $200 to support transportation costs to museums, historic sites, performances, or other cultural activities.

Teaching Artist Express: $250 or $500 to hire artists for a one or two-day residency.
- Available to Schools or districts that haven't recently hosted an artist residency in their school or received Council funding within the last five years.
- Artist must be listed in the Council's Teaching Artist Roster or designated as juried in education in the Arts Directory.

Teaching Artist Residency: $500-$1,500 to support artist residencies in schools.
FY2013 GRANTS are for activities beginning September 1, 2012 or later and ending no later than August 30, 2013.
Artist Development: $250-$1,000 to fund activities that enhance an artist's professional career.
Artists in Schools Grant: $250 - $2,500 for schools awarded on a per diem basis. A combination of our former Teaching Artist Express, Teaching Artist Residency, and Arts Learning programs.
- Applications scheduled to open July 1 with a rolling deadline.
- Award based on the number of days the artist(s) is/are in residence (1-10).
Creation: $3,000 to support the creation of new work by Vermont artists.
Cultural Facilities (application OPEN): Grants of $1,000-$30,000 for Vermont nonprofit organizations and municipalities to enhance, create, or expand the capacity of an existing building to provide cultural activities for the public.
Operating Support Grant (application OPEN): Two-year grants of $1,000 - $5,000 each year for general operating funds. Funded activities the first year must take place between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013. Application deadline is June 1, 2012. The next application deadline will be in 2014 for FY2015. Applicant must participate in the Cultural Data Project (Vermont CDP).

- Any Vermont nonprofit arts organization with an annual operating budget of $20,000 or higher who has not already received an Arts Partnership grant can apply.

Project Grant (application OPEN): $500-$2,000 to support art activities that enhance the quality of life for Vermont’s citizens, attract visitors, and help stimulate local economies. Funded activities must take place between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013. Application deadline is June 1, 2012.

Community Arts, Arts Learning, Teaching Artist Express, Teaching Artist Residency, and Technical Assistance grants have been rolled into new programs and are NOT available in 2013.
