- CREATION GRANTS: The purpose of the Creation Grant is to support the creation of new work by Vermont artists. Where possible, projects should strive to stimulate greater public understanding of the art form. Vermont not-for-profit organizations may also apply to this category to support the commission of new work by Vermont artists.
- ARTIST DEVELOPMENT GRANTS - The purpose of an Artist Development Grant is to provide funds for artistic and professional skill development, as well as for the development of promotional or marketing materials. Grants are intended to support activities which will enhance the career development of artists.
- ART IN STATE BUILDINGS PROGRAM - This program helps support the work of Vermont artists, and is designed to preserve and enrich the state's cultural landscape for its citizens and visitors. It is administered by the Vermont Arts Council in partnership with the Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services. The program is dedicated to enhancing working environments by improving the character and quality of state-owned buildings and public spaces by commissioning artists to create site-specific permanent installations of art in designated State buildings.
We believe tha t artists contribute immeasurably to the quality of life and the cultural and economic vitality of our state. Creativity is a key economic driver, and artists have played a pivotal role in the recent revitalization of towns like Bellows Falls, Brandon and Vergennes. Clearly, Vermont's working artists help stimulate the growth of creative sectors and build sustainable communities across the state.
For more than 40 years the Council has supported artists with programs that include:
